Was that the "big one?"

If you have been watching the news then you'll know that at 11:40pm last night Reno experienced its biggest earthquake so far... 4.7 magnitude. It was centered about 2 miles from where Ryan and I live in Verdi/Mogul. Since then there has been over 50 aftershocks some as big as 3.2 magnitude and one a few minutes ago as I was talking to my Nonie...3.0 magnitude.

Ryan and I weren't hurt but were shaken up pretty badly. We did lose a bunch of our newly purchased glasses and dishes and lots of our pictures fell over. I wasn't able to get a picture of the kitchen because the glass was all over the place, but I did get some of our bathroom.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying their weekend.

Earthquake!!!

Over the past several months Reno has been experiencing minor earthquakes on a daily basis. I didn't feel any of them until the past two weeks. Most of the time they are little and I mistake them for the construction that is going on outside my window at work. However, they have gotten stronger.

Yesterday there was a 4.1 quake shortly after 4pm. It knocked down and broke a mirror as well as my jewelry box and other items that was on top of my dresser. Since that time there has been over 100 quakes recorded! One was last night at 1:45am which woke both Ryan and I out of a dead sleep. And another one at 4am!

There were earthquakes on and off all day and there have been 2 since I got home from work 1/2 an hour ago! My students have gotten very good at the "duck and cover" drills we have been practicing and my boss is preparing us for "the big one."

Hopefully there won't be any more this weekend, especially since Mom and Dad Moreau will be here visiting.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Yuba City 4/18-4/20

Ryan and I spent this last weekend in YC. This is probably the last time Ryan and I will be in YC together for awhile. He switches shifts in 2 weeks and goes back to weekends...
We spent Friday in Sacramento where we shopped and had lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory. After that we headed back to YC to spend time with our family and friends.
On Saturday we were attending Sarah Hadley's wedding (she's Eric Meyer's little sister). We had a lot of fun! It's always nice to dress up and go out with friends. We met up with Ryan and Delaynii Howard after the ceremony and headed to the reception with them. We ate, danced and had a great time. After the wedding we headed back to their house to watch a movie. It was a lot of fun!
On Sunday, we recuperated from staying out way past our bedtime and visited with our family some more. We headed back up to Reno around 3PM and started getting ready for our week.
I have attached some pics from the wedding... Enjoy!

The Weekend in Review!

This weekend was a VERY busy weekend for Ryan and I. It all started on Friday morning when Ryan and I began moving into our new apartment. I woke up not feeling very well but knew we needed to get as much done as possible. So, we moved all day long. I took a short break to attend Sam's bday party at a nail place and got a pedicure to help me feel better. :) We worked until 9 o'clock that evening and finished the day not where we would have liked to be.

After a sleepless night, due to my cold, Ryan and I started bright and early so we could leave for my grandfather's 80Th birthday party in Yuba City. Unfortunately we were tired and sore from the day before that we weren't moving as fast as we could. Also, Ryan and I were the only people moving. We had some help from our friend Nate, but all he did was help Ryan move the heavy stuff (T.V., Couch, Bed, etc.).

We left for Yuba City later than we had hoped but made excellent time there. We picked up my dad's girlfriend, sister and cousin and headed to Lovey's Landing in Meridian for dinner. After some yummy food and great company, we headed to Mike and Melissa's for cake and ice cream. We visited for a little bit and then headed to Ryan's parents for some much needed rest.

We woke up Sunday feeling refreshed and headed back up the hill. We finally got out of our old apartment around 3:30pm. Now we are just trying to get our new place put together since it looks like a bomb went off(LOL)and we are trying to get our cats settled. They are having fun exploring our new place.
